Princess Aurora, dream warrior
There was some combination of me browsing tumblr and watching a lot of Nightmare on Elm Street when I started wondering what Sleeping Beauty did all that time she was sleeping. And this is what happened, Princess Aurora, dream warrior.
Also posting on The Drawing Board are a couple of Freddy comics inspired by the same moviethon.
24 Hour Comics Day done!
I did it! I did 24 comic pages in 24 hours (less – I’m too old to stay up that late anymore). My comic, Nightmare, is done! Read from the beginning!
Nightmare 1 – 24 hour comics day
My first page for 24 hour comics day is done and my comic, Nightmare, is posting in the Drawing Board.
Check back during the day for the rest of the comic as it comes out of my head.
24 hour comics day is coming!
24 hour comics day is coming! I need to come up with an idea – though, of course, nothing more than an idea. The challenge is to plan, draw, and finish a 24 page comic in 24 hours. There can be no story written, no layouts sketched, nothing until the big day. How it’s finished is up to the artist. I did my usual last year (pencil sketches inked with a grey pallet). I’m trying to decide if I’m up for that this year. I can still remember how my shoulder felt afterwards. Why must I mouse and draw with the same hand?
Since I’m doing the challenge from home I will be posting updates and comic pages as I go this Saturday. Thank goodness I finally have a correct installation of webcomic (is, by the by, a fabulous comic displaying wordpress plugin, with which my recent trials were probably all my fault).
Fixed
Ok, the comics are back – sans any comments or explanations I may have posted with them originally. I had to publish them in the past so their dates are all wonky, but doing it this way did give me a chance to re-organize a little. All short comics are located in The Drawing Board now, and navigable via their story line (which will show up as a drop box in the left hand menu). This is where The Lighthousemen of Eileen Mor is posting as well (it’s doing it right now!).
Unsolved Mysteries comic
Emmi Gennis has been previewing the mysterious stories that will be featured in the Hic & Hoc unsolved mysteries anthology. There are some fantastic and promising pages for this book – I’m looking forward to getting my hands on it.
I suppose I’m kind of dissapointed too, since Graham Kahler’s submission means I missed the boat again. But you know what that means! You get to read the thing here, yes you do. So keep your eyes peeled forThe Lighthousemen of Eilean Mor. I’ll give you a heads up too – when it’s posting.
Meanwhile, click on the pic to see Emmi Gennis’ blog and check out the other cool comic artists included in the upcoming anthology.
dogs and lawnmowers
Another night I was at a loss for what to draw (but feeling compelled to draw something). This time I was on the phone to my dad who suggested dogs and lawn mowers – with heavy references to his own dogs. His doberman does not have a tail. Don’t know what I was thinking.
Are you ready for Inktober?
Inktober is coming – a month long celebration of artists drawing in ink. I’ve happily watched through a couple years of Jake Parker’s Inktobers and seen other artists I follow fall in line with brush and pen. This will be the first year I give it a try. No pencils, no erasers, just ink on paper, a drawing a day, all October long. Even on 24 hour comics Day October 20th. So keep your fingers crossed for me and check back. Check back everyday. 🙂
New comic on the Drawing Board
It must be all those Halloween decoration stores going up around town. The Drawing Board is Thinking of Halloween | The LeEMS Bean.
Wolf and 7 Kids comic posting
I said it was going to happen and now it is! My comic version of Grimm’s Wolf and 7 Kids, originally drawn as a submission to a fairy tale anthology, is posting on my site. Go read it!
Fairy tale comic coming soon
I have been officially silently unaccepted for the fairytale anthology. Maybe it was because I tried computer aided lettering for the first time, but I’m only guessing. But good for ya’ll ’cause now I’ll post the thing here. Starting with the art I submitted for the anthology cover.
